Buy something that really works.I'm already returning it. So, it cannot be a serious product. It's the 2nd (ans certainly the last) time I buy something from Linksys and it doesn't work.Don't be tempted by the low price. Please, don't lose your money and time buying this trash. It doesn't work, it doesn't support 802.11n as it says, installing the software on XP is a nightmare and Linksys support is a joke. The latest driver version available for this model is from 2007.
Unfortunately I also encounter a fair number of disconnects when using the WPC600N, whereas the Intel WiFi only very rarely gets disconnected, even in 802.11a/n.I haven't been able to compare this card with other PC Cards (there really aren't that many that support dual-band 11).; I don't know whether the computer's built-in WiFi is always supposed to be better because notebooks have multiple antennas built-in, or whether this is simply an underperforming PC Card. This adapter works all right, but I've done some tests with it and range-wise it's not as good as two of my notebooks with Intel WiFi support built-in. In 2.4GHz (802.11b/g), in locations where my notebooks would get "Very Good" signals, this card gives a "Good." I had similar results in 5Ghz (802.11a/n) (of course it's more like "Good" to "Low", since you never get "Excellent" and rarely get "Very Good" with 5GHz channels at typical ranges anyway).
Sometimes when I enable (windows) the card after being disabled, it turns on "IEEE 802 1x authentication" and the nic connects but is not authenticated and will not communicate on the network. It also disconnects and reconnects often - sometimes switching to the 2.4GHz band which is stymied by my phone like the Belkin was. Fixing this requires digging down several layers in "network connections" Very annoying. I bought this with a companion Linksys WRT400N router to replace my Belkin wireless pre-n router which was stymied by my 2.4GHz cordless phone. The Linksys' range is good, but speeds are usually not as high as expected despite a strong signal.
i think this device not as good or stable as i think it is.any more advice or comment on this device Linksys WPC600N Ultra RangePlus Dual-Band Wireless-N PC Cardwill be appreciated. i had try other n adapter which i had the airlink 300n it worked with my trennet router great the speed always stay at 300mb most of the time. hi, i bought this adapter because of the linksys brand for my laptop and hope to get a faster connection speed to go along with my trennet n wireless router tew652b. i had read all the review on here so i go along with some of the review advice to insert the card in first and driver later but the speed wont stay stable it go from low to high and other way all the time, is it how it suppose to be or my router not compatible with this linksys adapter.
The closer you are the better it will work and some time it will work in places that you don't think it will work. It works just great for me I've had for a month. It is very powerful.
